Basic of electricity

Electric charge- The property of electron and proton which gives rise electrostatic force between them is called as electric charge.

                                              Electric charge is denoted by Q or q.

The SI unit of electric charge is coulomb(C).

Properties of electric charge:-

1) Like charge repel eachother and

2)Unlike charge attract eachother.

Charge on an electron =-1.602*10^-19C

Charge on proton=+1.602*10^-19C

Note:-The magnitude of charge on electron and proton is same but opposite in nature i. e. Charge on electron is negative while charge on proton is positive.
